Assistant Head Nurse
Your Opportunity:
Recovery Alberta is seeking a temporary full-time Assistant Head Nurse to provide clinical leadership and operational support at the Lethbridge Opioid Dependency Clinic. Reporting to the Manager, the Assistant Head Nurse supports staff assignments, patient flow, and day-to-day operations while modelling Recovery Alberta’s values and commitment to safe, quality, patient- and family-centered care. In addition to providing frontline nursing care as required, you will act as a clinical resource and advocate for nursing staff, psychosocial staff, and admins in supporting harm reduction practices, opioid agonist therapy (OAT) services, and trauma‑informed care. You will assist with the implementation of operational priorities and contribute to solutions for complex clinical and system-level issues in collaboration with interprofessional teams and leadership.
Description:
As an Assistant Head Nurse, you will be responsible for staff assignments, patient flow and acting as a role model, clinical resource and advocate for nursing staff. In addition to providing frontline nursing care, as required, you will take a leadership role in the promotion of quality patient care and the implementation of operational priorities. Your in-depth knowledge and skills, advanced judgment and clinical experience, will assist in providing solutions for complex health care issues at all levels with patients, interprofessional teams, administrators and policy makers. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of Recovery Alberta.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Recent relevant clinical nursing experience: addictions, opioid dependency, mental health, or community-based care preferred. Demonstrated leadership experience or experience in a charge or senior clinical role. Strong clinical judgment, decision-making, and organizational skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Commitment to patient-centered, harm reduction, and trauma‑informed care.
Preferred Qualifications:Must have one years' experience working at an Opioid Dependency Program.
