Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:3-5 years Adult Acute in-patient with progressive leadership. Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills. Knowledge of the inpatient mental health teams and functions. Knowledge of the Addictions and Mental Health Continuum of care and resources and the Alberta Mental Health Act. Knowledge of Psychotropic medications required. Experience in administering the Mental Status examination and Knowledge of the Mental Health Act. Experience in various risk assessment i.e. Suicide risk, Homicidal risk, violent risk. Excellent interpersonal, communication and conflict resolution skills to interact with members of the interdisciplinary team, patients and families in a dynamic health care setting. Must be highly motivated and able to work within a team environment under pressure. Demonstrated problem solving, critical thinking and decision-making skills. Openness and adaptability to innovation and be a change advocate and agent. Demonstrates behaviors consistent with the values of Recovery Alberta. Within the last 5 years, 1-3 years proven skills and experience in psychiatric assessment, medical assessment and crisis intervention. Additionally, must have familiarity of the expectations of medical capabilities within mental health and be able to provide treatment as directed, assess potential difficulties, and respond to medical emergencies.
Preferred Qualifications:Certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI). Experience delivering education/training to adult learners. Knowledge/Understanding of DSM-IV and V. Understanding of various treatment modalities - CBT, DBT, Motivational interviewing, supportive therapy.
