Your Opportunity:
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and skilled addiction and mental health professional to be a member of the Assertive Community Treatment Team (ACT). ACT provides assertive, client focused, culturally appropriate, evidenced-based, recovery-oriented care to adults experiencing severe and persistent mental illness, addictions and houselessness. The team works primarily with individuals whose illness presents a barrier to engagement in treatment. Clinical services are most often delivered through outreach services in the community, and in partnership and collaboration with clients, families, other health providers, inner city agencies, and community programs. Reporting to the Care Manager, the Clinical Supervisor functions in the context of the multi-disciplinary team. They will provide mentoring and supervision to all team members and will be responsible for providing functional guidance to ACT staff concerning their duties and professional development. In collaboration with the leadership team, they will coordinate clinical case reviews and develop, deliver, and evaluate education and orientation to staff. The ideal candidate will have a good working knowledge of severe and persistent addiction and mental health disorders and experience in clinical supervision, assessment, crisis intervention, and treatment for complex needs. This individual will be proficient at risk assessment and the disclosure and documentation of risk. They will also have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Description:
As a Clinical Supervisor, you will provide clinical supervision for a discipline, practice area or service sector supporting clinicians to provide excellence in professional practice and enable quality, patient and family-centered care. In this clinical leadership role, you will provide clinical supervision to staff providing addiction and/or mental health services to individuals, families, and groups. This role involves supervision related to a range of assessment, mental health (psychosocial and psychological interventions), and other activities. You will be required to supervise regulated staff requiring supervision to meet the regulatory requirements for practice, and/or to unregulated staff providing the restricted activity of psychosocial intervention. This may include observing clinical sessions, reviewing clinical documentation and written reports, conducting team case consultations and offering support, and providing guidance and direction to clinical staff with challenging and urgent cases in a timely manner. In your role, you may work with members of the interdisciplinary team, psychiatrists and community partners in support of effective professional and collaborative practice. You may contribute to the planning, implementation and evaluation of mental health treatment services in a hospital setting or community. You may also identify and address gaps in clinical practice as well as facilitate addressing of system level gaps and risk management issues. You may provide support to leadership in the hiring, orientation and performance evaluation of clinical staff.

Master's Degree in Psychology or Social Work. Active or eligible for full registration (not provisional) with College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP) or the Alberta College of Social Work (ACSW). A minimum of 5 years' experience in providing mental health assessment and intervention, including restricted activity of psychosocial intervention.
Additional Required Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Nursing with a related Master’s degree including training in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy or considerable experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy would be considered. Minimum of 5 – 6 years of recent experience in addictions and mental health, preferably in a community setting. Experience providing clinical supervision. Strong abilities in working within a multidisciplinary team and demonstrated contribution in emerging programs is essential. Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Advanced knowledge and skill in mental health assessment, crisis intervention, treatment, brief solution focused therapy or equivalent. Proficient in risk assessment and disclosure and documentation of risk. Excellent verbal and written communication. Ability to ambulate, climb stairs, and move quickly without limitations in a variety of environments.
Preferred Qualifications:Extensive knowledge of the resources of Addiction and Mental Health and the community. A strong understanding of client resources in the community and knowledge of mental health legislation including Community Treatment Orders is an asset. Demonstrated ability to work well with a range of community and agency stakeholders as well as clients and families.
