Description:

Reporting to the MHCB Program Manager, the Wellness Facilitator promotes positive mental health and wellness for children, youth, and families through prevention, education, and early intervention initiatives. As part of a collaborative team, you will deliver evidence-based, developmentally appropriate programming in school and community settings that supports the goals of the MHCB initiative. Working with students, families, school staff, and community partners, to facilitate large and small group programming designed to increase mental health literacy, strengthen resilience, develop coping skills, and support overall well-being. The role helps build individual and community capacity by providing education and resources related to mental health and addiction, while fostering supportive and inclusive environments where children and youth can thrive. Facilitators develop and maintain strong working relationships with schools, families, community agencies, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders. Acting as a trusted mental health resource, the role supports the early identification of individuals who may require specialized addiction and mental health services and facilitates appropriate referrals and connections to care. Facilitators continuously assess and respond to evolving community needs, contribute to program planning and improvement, and support a coordinated approach to mental health promotion and prevention.

Required Qualifications:

Post-secondary degree or diploma in Social Work, Psychology, Nursing, Public Health, Health Promotion, Early Childhood Development, Human Services, Social Sciences, or a related field. Minimum two years of experience in addiction and mental health, health promotion, human services, or a related role preferred. Relevant practicum experience will be considered. Experience delivering educational or preventative programming and facilitating group presentations.


Additional Required Qualifications:

Knowledge of addiction and mental health principles, services, community resources, as well as social, cultural, economic, and political factors affecting mental wellness. Understanding of the developmental, emotional, social, educational, and recreational needs of children, youth, and families. Experience working with schools, families, community agencies, and healthcare providers.


Preferred Qualifications:

Strong facilitation, public speaking, and relationship-building skills. Ability to work independently while contributing within a team environment. Strong advocacy, collaboration, and community networking skills. Ability to maintain program statistics and support evaluation and reporting activities. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
