Instructor - Clinical Nurse Educator
Your Opportunity:
The Peter Lougheed Centre (PLC) Addictions and Mental health Program is a group of dynamic multidisciplinary teams that work together to ensure our patients have the best standard of care and experience. Our site runs six Addictions and Mental Health Programs; Two General Psychiatry Inpatient Units, Day Hospital Program, Psychiatric Emergency Services (PES), Consultation Liaison, and the Short Stay Unit (SSU). The Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) is an expert clinical resource and frontline educational leader who supports excellence in patient care within the PLC AMH Program. The CNE is responsible for assessing learning needs, designing and delivering evidence-based education, and supporting staff development to promote safe, recovery-oriented practice. Working collaboratively with managers and multidisciplinary teams, the CNE leads education initiatives, co-facilitates student placements, and ensures staff competency through ongoing training, coaching, and evaluation. The CNE provides guidance on clinical standards, supports implementation of new programs and policies, and contributes to quality improvement efforts aligned with Recovery Alberta values. Key responsibilities include facilitating skills training and clinical teaching, maintaining records of staff participation, and coordinating simulation and orientation activities. The CNE provides in-scope leadership by mentoring staff, supporting performance expectations, and providing feedback to leadership regarding competency and educational needs. The role requires strong communication, problem solving, and clinical decision-making abilities to support staff navigating complex patient care situations. The CNE collaborates on program development, integrates best practices, and adjusts education strategies based on learner feedback, outcomes data, and evolving unit needs.
