Licensed Practical Nurse
Your Opportunity:
Calgary Remand Centre (CRC) is a maximum security provincial correctional facility dedicated to providing patient centered and trauma informed care for adult individuals. Reporting to the Health Services Manager, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) delivers comprehensive, holistic health care within a complex and dynamic environment, supporting both physical and mental health needs of a mandated population. The LPN works collaboratively with Registered Nurses, Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, and multidisciplinary team members to assess, plan, deliver, and evaluate nursing care in accordance with professional standards, facility policies, and legislation. This role requires strong clinical judgment, adaptability, professionalism, and the ability to work within a security focused environment. The LPN provides direct nursing care, including health assessments, medication administration, wound care, and chronic disease monitoring. In addition, the LPN promotes health education, infection prevention, and harm reduction practices while completing admission health screenings and ongoing health surveillance. The successful candidate will also be responsible for monitoring and responding to acute and emergent health concerns. (Please note this posting has four positions available).

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Strong clinical assessment skills. Experience with discharge planning. Familiarity with harm reduction modalities. Knowledge of trauma informed and culturally responsive care. Experience working with complex, vulnerable, or marginalized populations. Emotional resilience and adaptability in a secure environment. Strong IV skills. Experience responding to codes required.
Preferred Qualifications:Previous experience in acute care, emergency, and/or correctional healthcare within the last 12 months. Connect Care proficiency.
