Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Knowledge of the Addiction and Mental Health related resources across the Calgary Zone required. Demonstrated organizational and clinical skills in addition to being self-directed and able to work collaboratively in a team environment required. Computer proficiency required. Knowledge of verbal de-escalation techniques required. Minimum 1 year recent nursing experience in an acute in-patient psychiatric setting required. Working Knowledge of Psychotropic medications required. Experience in administering the Mental Status examination. Knowledge of the Mental Health Act. Experience in various risk assessment i.e. Suicide risk, Homicidal risk, violent risk. Knowledge of the addiction and mental health continuum of care. Within the last 5 years, 1-3 years proven skills and experience in psychiatric assessment, medical assessment and crisis intervention. Additionally, must have familiarity of the expectations of medical capabilities within mental health and be able to provide treatment as directed, assess potential difficulties, and respond to medical emergencies. Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrated ability in facilitating groups and family interviews will be considered an asset. Current Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) preferred. IV Certification preferred. Working Knowledge or experience about the various therapeutic modalities i.e. CBT, DBT, Supportive therapy, Motivational interview. Knowledge/Understanding of DSM-V.
