If you ever felt you wanted to do more for people living with Chronic pain and their families, this would be of interest to you. As part of the Alberta Virtual Pain Program (AVPP), this is an opportunity to provide support and education to Albertans living with chronic pain. The AVPP Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) will possess knowledge of chronic care providing support through telephone interactions with resources and accessing pain management programs. Primarily, the LPN will receive referrals from Albertans and their Primary Care Provider to register in Pain management programs. Using decision support tools and service navigation resources, the LPN will make outbound calls to prescreen, register and provide supporting tools for programs. The LPN will liaise with multidisciplinary experts including Occupational therapists, physiotherapists, pain specialists and registered nurses. The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) incorporates unique knowledge, skills, and competencies and requires excellent communication, critical thinking skills as well as strong knowledge of navigation resources.

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and Recovery Alberta policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of Recovery Alberta.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Experience in the last 2-3 years within Chronic pain management. Ability to complete telephone interviews and electronic clinical documentation for extended periods of time. Able to work as part of a team, be self-directed, action-oriented, demonstrate quick problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail. Exhibits strong time management and prioritization skills. Demonstrated empathetic disposition. Exhibits exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated competency with computer applications to complete clinical documentation on Connect Care computer programs in a supported environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrate high standards of professionalism and diligence with the ability to work in a fast paced, challenging and constantly changing environment. Exhibits effective interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain collaborative working relationships within the interdisciplinary team. Experience working in a call center preferred.
