Completion of one of the following programs: a Master's degree in Psychology, a Bachelor's degree in Social Work incorporating education in mental health assessment, brief counseling, and crisis intervention, a Master's or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy with similar educational components, a Bachelor's degree in Nursing with training and experience in mental health assessment, crisis intervention, and brief counseling, or a Bachelor's degree in Psychiatric Nursing. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.
Additional Required Qualifications:Knowledge of DSM diagnoses and criteria, evidenced by relevant training or certification. Minimum of 6 months of experience in delivering targeted mental health interventions focused on symptom management and client understanding. Minimum of 6 months of experience in assessing and supporting clients with substance use concerns, including developing and implementing treatment plans. For Master of Counselling applicants, current registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists is mandatory. CCC (certification body) does not meet the position requirements; must be a regulatory college.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience in facilitating individual and group therapy sessions within adult mental health outpatient and inpatient settings. Experience working in inpatient and outpatient addiction treatment programs. Training and certification in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Current registration with ACSW, with authorization to perform restricted psychosocial interventions. Registration with the CRPNA.
