Your Opportunity:
We are seeking a skilled Mental Health Therapist to join the Crisis & Stabilization Team, supporting Intake, CAST Stabilization, CAST Crisis, and YPACT. Reporting to the Care Manager for Children, Youth & Families Addiction and Mental Health, this mobile float position provides responsive, client‑centered support to children, youth, and families. The role is based out of the Nexus and Inglewood CYF offices and involves delivering services across community, clinical, hospital, and in‑home settings. As part of a multidisciplinary team, the therapist provides a wide range of addiction and mental health services including walk‑in support, group facilitation, assessment and screening, system navigation, referral coordination, crisis intervention, outreach, stabilization, and case management. Key Responsibilities: Complete intake and crisis interviews, clinical assessments, and screening. Provide referrals to CYF programs, CASA, and community agencies. Deliver evidence‑informed psychosocial interventions. Collaborate with community partners, emergency departments, police, and acute care. Participate in crisis response, safety planning, and short‑term stabilization. Support program development and quality improvement initiatives. Provide supervision to practicum students when appropriate. Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
Description:
As the Mental Health Therapist, you will be required to use a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, and group) to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment.

Master's degree in Psychology; or master's degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; or master's or bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; or master's degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.
Additional Required Qualifications:This position is open to professionals registered with their respective Alberta colleges, including: Registered Nurses (RN), Registered Psychiatric Nurses (RPN), Registered Social Workers (Master’s level, authorized for psychosocial interventions), Registered Psychologists (Master’s, CAP), and Registered Occupational Therapists. Active registration is required. Candidates must have demonstrated experience in mental health and addiction services with children, youth, and families, including a minimum of three years supporting complex mental health concerns in a community setting. Required competencies include triage, assessment, intervention, risk mitigation, and stabilization. Strong skills in clinical assessment, crisis intervention, safety planning, and treatment planning are essential, along with the ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team. Knowledge of intervention and treatment modalities, psychiatric medications, the DSM, and the Alberta Mental Health Act is required. Strong critical thinking, documentation, and clinical intervention skills are expected.
Preferred Qualifications:Connect Care experience an asset. Strong working knowledge of the addictions and mental health system and resources with AHS Edmonton zone and surrounding communities
