Your Opportunity:
Reporting directly to the Clinical Manager or designate, this Children's Mental Health Therapist will work collaboratively with Addiction and Mental Health staff, psychiatry, public health and school personnel to provide support to child and adolescent clients to address emotional, behavioral and mental health concerns. The service is delivered in multiple settings. The individual will work out of Stettler but may require travel on work time and utilize a company vehicle to attend to the Castor, Coronation or Consort community based on demand and the needs of that community. This individual will value and appreciate collaboration and evidence informed practices. The successful individual will demonstrate a high degree of independence and ability to understand and navigate potential complexities of working across different systems. This individual will have a proven positive track record of working with complex issues relating to the mental health of children, youth and/or families. Responsibilities include screening, consultation, assessment and treatment, teaching, liaison with families, community service providers and school personnel. The role requires that the incumbent work independently as well as within a larger multidisciplinary team.
Description:
As the Mental Health Therapist, you will be required to use a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, and group) to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment.

Master's degree in Psychology; or master's degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; or master's or bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; or master's degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.
Additional Required Qualifications:A bachelor's degree in social work may be considered if the candidate is on the General Registry with the ACSW and is able to independently perform restricted activities of psychosocial intervention. A minimum of 2 year's experience is required to meet this requirement.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience working with youth and families is an asset. Experience with play based techniques and modalities is an asset. Experience working with community stakeholders is an asset.
