Your Opportunity:

Reporting to the Health Care Manager of the Red Deer Remand Centre, the Nurse Practitioner functions as part of an interdisciplinary team within a Correctional setting with adult patients who present for primary care (routine screening, disease management) and urgent care (injury, illnesses) services. This position currently works Weekdays only

Description:

As a Nurse Practitioner (NP), you will provide a full range of comprehensive health services to individuals across their lifespan. You will be responsible for integrating clinical skills associated with nursing and medicine to assess, diagnose, order, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatment, and perform procedures to manage and meet the health needs of patients. Additionally, you will utilize advanced practice nursing competencies related to Clinical Practice, Leadership and Optimizing Health Systems, Education, and Research to increase care quality, promote appropriate use of health services, and inform and influence healthcare systems. Required Qualifications:

Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program, with a minimum of a Master's degree. Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) on the Nurse Practitioner Registrar, including Provisional Graduate Nurse Practitioner licensure. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Must understand and practice within full scope of practice in an interdisciplinary team environment. Experience in a wide range of assessment, treatment and therapeutic interventions, health promotion, diagnostic procedures, and follow-up care in the community is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

OAT prescribing training, experience issuing form 1, women's health. Experience working across the life span and in a primary care setting such as Family Medicine, Urgent Care or Out Post setting is preferred. Completion of Trauma Nurse Core Course or other advanced clinical setting nursing skills, and Advanced Cardiac Life Support. International Trauma Life Support and/or Trauma Nurse Core Course is preferred.
