Your Opportunity:
Forensic Assessment & Community Services (FACS) has an exciting opportunity for a Psychologist I. Reporting to the Care Manager of FACS, this position will act as a member of multidisciplinary teams that provide assessment and treatment services that are evidence and recovery based, aligned with best practice approaches, policy, legislation, and designated standards of practice within the context of an outpatient, forensic community mental health clinic. The successful candidate will be responsible for the completion of comprehensive risk assessments and the provision of both individual and group treatment to individuals convicted of or identified for problematic sexual offending behaviour. Other responsibilities may include evaluation of client’s current mental health, substance use, psycho-social functioning and psychological testing as required. You will be expected to have a thorough knowledge of offense related rehabilitation, mental health diagnosis, suicide assessment, case formulation, risk management, and treatment principles. The successful candidate will collaborate with colleagues in order to provide input and participation in program development. program evaluation, research activities, and quality improvement endeavors. This position works closely and collaboratively with community stakeholders, offering consultative and educational services as needed, along with coordination and case management planning and follow-up. This will include but is not limited to clients with developmental delays, acute mental health issues, and complex social needs. Understanding of inappropriate sexual behaviours, intimate partner violence, general offences, and legal dispositions will all be considered an asset. As will a strong background in providing outpatient treatment in the context of both individual and group settings with a forensic population.
Description:
As a Psychologist I, you will work with or within teams to provide a range of standard level psychology services to patients and their families within the established standards, directives, and policies for the work environment. Your services may include psychological screening and/or assessment, diagnosis, interventions, rehabilitation, prevention and promotion, as well as educational activities. You will collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team of healthcare professionals in planning and implementing services that align with best practices and ethical and professional standards. You will provide input to the interprofessional team related to psychological factors, barriers and dynamics that influence client treatment planning, participation, outcomes and team functioning, and consult and collaborate with teams and community services. Your duties may also include providing supervision to psychometrists, provisional psychologists and/or masters level psychology students, and providing input into program, policy and/or procedure development in addition to participating in formal research initiatives.

Master's degree in Psychology in an applied area relevant to the practice setting from an accredited university program. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP).
Additional Required Qualifications:BLS required. NVCI or immediate registration into the next available course is required.
Preferred Qualifications:Familiarity with electronic medical records (Connect Care), virtual therapy platforms (Zoom), and comfort with Microsoft Office programs will all be considered assets.
