Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:RNs – Active or Eligible Registration with CARNA or RPNs – Active or Eligible Registration with CRPNA College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta. Within the last 5 years, 1-3 years proven skills and experience in psychiatric, medical assessment and crisis intervention. Additionally, must have familiarity of the expectations of medical capabilities within mental health and be able to provide treatment as directed, assess potential difficulties, and respond to medical emergencies. New grads who have completed a final preceptorship in an Addiction and Mental Health site may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:Certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) preferred. Experience in child and adolescent mental health and acute care setting preferred. Knowledge of the Addiction and Mental Health resources across the Calgary Zone preferred. Knowledge of various risk assessments (i.e. suicide, homicide, violence), verbal de-escalation techniques and how to intervene an asset. Knowledge of the Mental Health Act preferred.
