Your Opportunity:

Reporting to the Manager of Addiction and Mental Health (AMH) Supportive Housing, the RN/RPN works as a member of the AMH team at Templemont Gardens Supportive Living Level 4 (SL4) Facility; collaboratively working with staff from Integrated Supportive and Facility Living (ISFL) and Trinity Place Foundation of Alberta (TPFA) to support adults assessed for SL4 level of care with identified complex physical, mental or cognitive impairments who may also have a history of substance use disorder. The AMH team is comprised of Nursing, Social Work, Mental Health Therapist, Addictions Counsellors and a Psychiatrist. This team functions to provide assessment, treatment, intervention, psychosocial rehabilitation, addiction support services and case management functions. Essential to this position's skill set will be an understanding of how behaviour is manifested as a result of mental illness, addiction, developmental disability, geriatric concerns, and other internal or external factors. This knowledge and ability will support TPFA staff with client-centered goal setting, care planning and developing behavioral strategies that can be utilized by all staff members interacting with the resident in the facility. The RN/RPN is an assertive, proactive individual with a strong foundation in the area of addiction/mental health services in the Calgary Zone. The RN/RPN possesses the ability to interact in a wide range of challenging circumstances, using critical thinking and complex problem-solving skills in order to provide quality, client-driven, culturally appropriate, and integrated services that are safe, competent and ethical. The RN/RPN also fulfills the role while adhering to the principles of recovery, harm reduction, trauma informed care and promoting patient and family centered care.

Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of Recovery Alberta. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 - $55.79 per hour. Upon being entered into the register as a Registered Nurse, the rate of pay will be adjusted in accordance with the UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

2-3 years adult addiction and mental health experience within the past 5 years Experience working with individuals with complex severe and persistent mental illness and problem substance use Working knowledge of the AMH Care Continuum and Calgary Zone services Working knowledge of Alberta Mental Health Legislation - Community Treatment Orders Worked experience with AMH philosophies and initiatives – Recovery Model, Trauma Informed Care, Harm Reduction, LOCUS, Collaborative Problem Solving, etc. Comprehensive experience in conducting psychosocial assessments, treatment planning, and crisis intervention Experience working in partnership with AHS and non-AHS stakeholders Self-motivated with proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team Demonstrated responsible decision-making through the application of knowledge, critical thinking and sound legal and ethical judgment Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work in demanding and dynamic conditions Excellent organizational, problem-solving and time management skills Knowledge and adherence to AHS policies, procedures and code of conduct Experience with MS Office Suite, Outlook, Connect Care, Netcare and HoNOS

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working within an Addiction Recovery program Addiction and Mental Health case management experience Group therapy experience Recent training and/or education in relevant therapeutic modalities including Motivational Interviewing, CBT, DBT and other evidence-based therapies
