Registered Nurse
Your Opportunity:
Recovery Alberta (RA) is seeking a passionate and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our team at Wood Buffalo Addiction & Mental Health Services (WAMHS). This temporary full time position runs Monday to Friday and requires evening availability. As a member of our multidisciplinary team, you will work both independently and collaboratively to support a diverse population in individual and group settings across rural and urban environments. Flexibility is essential as you contribute to programs such as the Travel Team (providing support to rural communities), the Walk In Clinic, the Child and Youth Program, and Adult Mental Health and Addiction Services. A valid Class V driver’s licence is required, and frequent travel to rural communities is expected. In this role, you will provide crisis intervention, assessment, diagnostic and treatment services, case management and referrals for adults, children, and families experiencing mental health and addiction concerns. You will also work in partnership with, and offer consultation to other healthcare professionals across the continuum of mental health care. In addition to a competitive salary, RA provides a Fort McMurray Allowance of up to $12,480 annually. This allowance is non pensionable and paid hourly for all hours worked at the basic rate of pay.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of Recovery Alberta. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $39.58 /hour - $54.16/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with Recovery Alberta /UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:The ideal candidate will have experience or training in delivering culturally safe and trauma informed care;. Experience working with child, youth, and rural populations is essential. Advanced knowledge of complex addictions and mental illness are required, along with proficiency in evidence based/evidence informed treatments, including risk assessment, crisis management, concurrent disorders treatment and harm reduction.
