Your Opportunity:
Reporting to the Rapid Access Addiction Medicine Clinic (RAAM) Care Manager, the Registered Nurse (RN/RPN) will play a key role in a brand-new, innovative clinic designed to provide timely, patient-centered care to people experiencing substance use challenges. This is an exciting opportunity for a nurse who is passionate about working with high-risk populations in a collaborative, recovery-oriented environment. In this role, you will complete comprehensive nursing assessments, provide clinical supports, and work closely with peer support workers, social workers, mental health clinicians, nurse practitioners, and addiction medicine physicians. All team members practice from a recovery-oriented framework, focusing on patient empowerment and supporting individualized goals of treatment and recovery. The RN will help shape and develop this new clinic, contributing to program design, workflows, and innovative approaches to care. You will also support acute care partners, provide education on substance use and overdose prevention, and assist with care planning to ensure smooth transitions between hospital and community-based services. Description:
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of Recovery Alberta. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $39.58 /hour - $54.16/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with Recovery Alberta /UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:5 years’ experience working with Addictions and Substance Use Disorders and working knowledge of the associated pharmacotherapies; experience in Mental Health and Acute Care is an asset. This job is very physically active and requires movement over a large campus, daily. Proficient and comfortable with navigation and use of Connect Care. Demonstrated skills assessment skills in a variety of settings, knowledge of psychotropic medication, DSMV and high comfort level with MSE, relevant legislation and direction of care within Recovery Alberta with understanding of the Recovery Model. Demonstrated interpersonal, organizational and assertive, tactful, effective, caring and nonjudgmental communication skills. Demonstrated ability to maintain effective working relationships within interdisciplinary team and stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to work independently while maintaining high levels of collaboration with numerous teams. Demonstrated ability to adapt quickly to changing and fluctuating workloads and work conditions. Demonstrated accountability, reliability, critical thinking, leadership and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated ability to respond to new needs in the role as they arise, with initiative, self-directedness and inclusion of others. Willingness and enthusiasm to lead within the team and help to continuously adapt and grow to meet the needs of the service and those it serves.
Preferred Qualifications:Hx planning, coordination and implementation with quality improvement and care planning. Positive attitude and the ability to work effectively in a team. English language proficiency required. Trauma informed care + Stages of Change. Comprehensive understanding of what harm reduction means and includes. Concurrent Capable with respect to Addiction alongside chronic diseases, acute illness and injury, and mental health disorders.
