Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)

Additional Required Qualifications:

1 year of Addictions and Mental health experience within the last 3 years with an FTE. New grads who have completed a final preceptorship in an Addiction and Mental Health site may be considered. Registered Psychiatric Nurses (RPN) must have an active permit or be eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA).

Preferred Qualifications:

Certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI). Experience in child and adolescent mental health. Nursing experience in an acute care setting. Knowledge of the Addiction and Mental Health related resources across the Calgary Zone. Knowledge of verbal de-escalation techniques. Knowledge of how to intervene is an asset. Knowledge of the Mental Health Act. Experience in various risk assessment i.e. Suicide risk, Homicidal risk, violent risk an asset.
