The Claresholm Centre for Mental Health & Addictions is a 120-bed facility with an attached outpatient program (community support services) of 40 spaces. There are three primary inpatient units at the site including Concurrent Disorders, Active Psychiatric Rehabilitation, Extended Psychiatric Rehabilitation and Transitions Unit. Professionals at the Centre believe in each individual’s potential for development and success. Our team includes nurses, social workers, psychiatrists, psychologist, physicians, pharmacists, recreational and occupational therapists, dieticians and other mental health providers. Once a patient is ready for transition and re-entry into community living, follow-up support, outpatient programs and outreach services are coordinated for patients. These form a comprehensive treatment model with various service options for patients. As the successful candidate you will be expected to demonstrate: time management and prioritization skills in a rapidly changing environment; be self-directed and show initiative; strong interpersonal and communication skills; collaboration with the interdisciplinary team; problem solving, decision making, critical thinking and conflict resolution skills; patient advocacy using a person-centered approach; and foster positive relationships within a team environment. Within the last 5 years, 1-3 years proven skills and experience in psychiatric, medical assessment and crisis intervention. Additionally, must have familiarity of the expectations of medical capabilities within mental health and be able to provide treatment as directed, assess potential difficulties, and respond to medical emergencies.
Description:
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of Recovery Alberta. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $39.58 /hour - $54.16/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with Recovery Alberta /UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:Active or Eligible Registration with CRNA or RPNs – Active or Eligible Registration with CRPNA College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta Ability to demonstrate strong interpersonal, organizational, and assessment skills while working within a collaborative multidisciplinary team. Knowledge of mental health diagnosis, symptomology, and related treatment interventions. Working knowledge of psychotropic medications and psychopathology. Working knowledge of relevant legislation is required including the Alberta Mental Health Act and Health Information Act.
Preferred Qualifications:Working knowledge of CBT, DBT, and Trauma Informed Care. Working knowledge of the Collaborative Problem-Solving approach. Active NVCI or eligible for active status.
