Your Opportunity:

The Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse – Regularized Relief position would be working and covering in multiple units. The nurse would be covering predictable relief needs such as sick time, leave of absences, education, vacation and personal leave. At SAFPC would be covering for the Acute Forensic Assessment Unit and the Not-Criminally Responsible due to Mental Disorder Treatment and Recovery Unit. Acute Forensic Assessment Unit: Provides comprehensive nursing care for patients, that are corrections involved experiencing acute or chronic mental health conditions. Not Criminally Responsible due to Mental Disorder (NCR-MD) Treatment & Recovery Unit: Provides comprehensive nursing care, consistent with a psychosocial rehabilitation model for patients that have been deemed Not Criminally Responsible due to Mental Disorder patients.

Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of Recovery Alberta. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 - $55.79 per hour. Upon being entered into the register as a Registered Nurse, the rate of pay will be adjusted in accordance with the UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)

Additional Required Qualifications:

RPNs with Active or Eligible Registration with CPRNA College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta welcome to apply. 4 months of Addiction and Mental Health experience within the last 3 years. New grads who have completed a final preceptorship in and Addiction and Mental Health and or forensic site may be considered. Knowledge of verbal de-escalation techniques required. Working knowledge of Psychotropic medications required. Experience in AMH assessment tools including but not limited to the Mental Status Examination. Training and experience in therapeutic modalities such as Trauma Informed Care, Recovery Oriented Care, and/or other evidence-based modalities. Knowledge and understanding of the Not Criminally Responsible due to Mental Disorder protocols.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of the Criminal Code Review Board. Collaborative problem-solving training. Familiarity with connect care. Experience with implementing informal groups.
