Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum 1 year of nursing experience in an acute inpatient psychiatric setting within the last 3 years. Consideration could be given to students who have completed a final focus in adult acute inpatient mental health. Knowledge of mental health diagnosis (DSM V), symptomatology and related treatment modalities/interventions. Crisis management skills include Suicide Risk assessments, intervention and treatment and de-escalation skills. Computer proficiency - Microsoft Word, Outlook. Training and experience in therapeutic modalities such as Trauma Informed Care, CBT, DBT and/or other evidence-based modalities.
Preferred Qualifications:Within the last 5 years, 1-3 years proven skills and experience in psychiatric assessment, medical assessment and crisis intervention. Certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) preferred. Knowledge of the Mental Health Act.
