Your Opportunity:
The Psychosocial Rehabilitation Program at the Centennial Centre for Mental Health and Brain Injury provides care and treatment for those individuals experiencing severe and persistent mental illness to support recovery. Reporting to a Unit Manager, the Registered Psychiatric Nurse will be working within a client centered treatment approach and will be responsible for assessment, providing patient/family support, discharge planning, group facilitation and individual work with clients working within a psychosocial rehabilitation philosophy. You will also ensure effective operation of the unit when assuming designated responsibilities and contribute to the learning experience of students, staff and patients.
Description:
As a Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN), you will provide leadership through a wide variety of nursing services to patients (clients, residents) for the purpose of promoting, maintaining or restoring health, mental health and preventing mental illness, injury and disability. You will teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and take necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care, while reflecting the shared vision and values of Recovery Alberta.

Completion of an accredited Psychiatric nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Leadership, observation and communication skills, a positive attitude and the ability to work effectively in a psychiatric and rehabilitation setting are essential. Demonstrated excellent assessment, organization and patient care skills. Ability to communicate findings in a concise and accurate manner. Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications:Demonstrates a good understanding of the principles of Psychosocial Rehabilitation.
