Registered Psychiatric Nurse
Your Opportunity:
The Psychiatric Crisis Response Team (PCRT) is seeking an experienced Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) to provide mental health consultation and support to patients across inpatient areas of Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre. The successful candidate will have strong mental health assessment, therapeutic interviewing, crisis intervention, and clinical decision-making skills, with the ability to work independently in a busy acute care environment. Working collaboratively with physicians, nursing teams, psychiatry, and other interdisciplinary partners, the RPN will assess patients experiencing mental health and/or addiction concerns, provide recommendations and brief interventions, and help connect patients with appropriate hospital and community resources. The ideal candidate will be confident working with complex presentations, demonstrate excellent communication and problem-solving skills, and bring a compassionate, patient-centred approach to care.
Description:
As a Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN), you will provide leadership through a wide variety of nursing services to patients (clients, residents) for the purpose of promoting, maintaining or restoring health, mental health and preventing mental illness, injury and disability. You will teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and take necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care, while reflecting the shared vision and values of Recovery Alberta.

Completion of an accredited Psychiatric nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
