Registered Psychiatric Nurse

Your Opportunity:

Reporting directly to the manager of the community Recovery Alberta office in Vegreville, this position will work as the Mental Health Liaison Nurse between the office and medical professionals and community agencies in the community as well as cover services in the communities of Two Hills and Lamont. This position is expected to provide consultative services as requested in hospital emergency departments, in-office intake screening activities, provide single session services in office weekly, assist in facilitating virtual group activities, attend Vegreville Interagency meetings monthly, transitional care for clients being discharged into community, and assist in covering caseloads as required. This position requires a knowledge of the Alberta Mental Health Act along with the assessment and crisis intervention skills required when giving recommendations regarding same as well as knowledge of short-term therapy modalities and a knowledge related to medications and side effects. This position requires an individual who is self-motivated, well organized and able to triage situations as they arise, comfortable communicating with other professionals, local agencies and groups of people either in a therapeutic milieu or just general public, and flexibility as travel is required.

As a Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN), you will provide leadership through a wide variety of nursing services to patients (clients, residents) for the purpose of promoting, maintaining or restoring health, mental health and preventing mental illness, injury and disability. You will teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and take necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care, while reflecting the shared vision and values of Recovery Alberta.
