Your Opportunity:

Recovery Alberta is seeking a Communications Advisor to support programmatic communications, develop and implement strategic plans, and create meaningful links to the ultimate goal of quality patient care. This position is responsible for developing and implementing strategic communication activities, within assigned programs and projects, by undertaking planning and delivery of communications, promotional activities, media relations and issues management.

Description:

Reporting to the Director, Communications, the advisor is a member of a high performing team who will write and edit communications projects such as key messages, communication plans and proactive stories. You will ensure the alignment, integration and coordination of communication efforts to advance the brand and reputation of Recovery Alberta. The advisor leverages a confident, direct and tactful approach, building strong relationships and networks with leaders, internal clients and colleagues. You will contribute to a high-performing communications function by collaborating with a focused, multidisciplinary team to advance shared priorities and deliver results in a dynamic environment. You are able to effectively manage multiple projects and assignments simultaneously and provide communications support and expertise to multiple departments and stakeholders. This role thrives in a culture that values respect, teamwork, and solutions-oriented thinking, recognizing the interdependence of roles in managing complex, time-sensitive communications.

Required Qualifications:

A degree or equivalent experience in Public Relations/Communications or related field and minimum three years of communications experience. Ability to understand, utilize and communicate specialized information. Strong written skills: key messages, news releases, print material and speaking notes. Efficient and proactive with strong sense of urgency. A demonstrated, clear pattern of professional and personal development. Strong diplomacy and relationship building skills. Proven organizational, time-management and sound decision-making skills.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Demonstrate proven ability to advise senior leaders in high-pressure situations, exceptional writing and editing skills for executive, media, and government audiences, and a strong understanding of the media landscape, government processes, and public accountability. Sound judgment, discretion, and the ability to manage sensitive information with confidence are essential.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference could be given to qualified candidates with current experience in Alberta's health system.
