Description:
Reporting to the Senior Operating Officer and Senior Medical Lead for Psychiatry and Mental Healthcare ---community, this role provides leadership support directly for the Senior Medical Lead for the Psychiatry and Mental Healthcare community portfolio. This complex role utilizes deep expertise in addiction and mental health services to ensure the provision of quality, client-focused, integrated services within the Psychiatry and Mental Healthcare community portfolio. This is a leadership position providing provincial wide support and integration providing clinical direction, support and guidance ensuring best practices and appropriate policies and procedures are developed, maintained and performed within a client focused patient care and treatment environment. This position utilizes expert knowledge of psychiatry and mental health services and effective communication skills with senior Recovery Alberta leadership, physicians, Administration/Management, front-line staff, Ministry of Mental Health and Addiction, stakeholders, and other program professionals to ensure consistent quality and continuity of services within the Psychiatry and Mental Healthcare portfolio. The successful candidate holds an oversight role and will be responsible for leading multi-disciplinary team in the development, maintenance, orientation, and implementation Psychiatry and Mental Healthcare policies and procedures provincially.

An undergraduate (Baccalaureate) degree required. Driver’s license. Current registration with the appropriate professional college or associations. Member in good standing of designated health profession.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Should have 5 years direct and varied clinical experience. Will have a broad range of clinical experiences (across age and social groups. Depth of clinical expertise in addiction and mental health services is required. Should have a minimum of 2 years supervisory or managerial experience, or related experiences demonstrating progressive or ongoing assumption/assignment of leadership responsibilities. Extensive knowledge of addictions and mental health programs and populations served. Effective problem-solving skills. Skills in staff training. Program development and evaluation expertise. Management and organizational theory. Understanding of the Health Professions Act regarding scope of practice Understanding of the continuum of addiction and mental health care (in Alberta and in other jurisdictions). Computer and software applications (e.g. word processing, spreadsheets, Outlook, etc). Leadership Course (recommended) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree preferred; combination of education and experience will be considered. Netcare, Connect Care training. Balances numerous demands and conflicting priorities. Familiar with community-based addiction and mental health services and vulnerable populations. Works as a member of a multi-disciplinary team. Preference will be given to those candidates that have health experience in community, inpatient, and involuntary mental health and addiction services.
