Social Worker II
Your Opportunity:
The Turningpoint Program (Unit 3-6) at Alberta Hospital Edmonton is an 18-bed inpatient forensic unit that supports youths and young adults who are in conflict with the law. The Turningpoint Program provides assessment, stabilization, short- and long-term treatment to youth with legal standing under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. As a Social Worker II, you will be a member of an inter-disciplinary team and provides a range of social work services to patients and their families. Your services will include: psychosocial assessment, resource-based interventions, individual, group and family treatment, risk screening, counselling, case management and coordination, transition or discharge planning, and prevention, promotion and public awareness activities. In addition to providing direct clinical social work services, the Social Worker II plays a critical role in the completion of comprehensive psychosocial and risk assessments and the development of detailed written reports. This position requires the ability to gather, analyze, and synthesize information from a variety of sources, including patients, families, healthcare teams, community agencies, and external partners such as correctional services, law enforcement, legal representatives, and other government and social service organizations as appropriate. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong clinical judgment and advanced assessment skills in obtaining collateral information, identifying psychosocial factors that impact care and risk, and integrating multiple perspectives into clear, objective, and defensible documentation. Strong communication skills are essential, as this role requires establishing collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate information sharing, coordinate services, and support patient-centered outcomes.
