Your Opportunity:
Calgary Remand Centre (CRC) is a maximum security provincial correctional facility dedicated to providing patient centered and trauma informed care for adult individuals. We are seeking a compassionate, skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our multidisciplinary team. Working within an interdisciplinary health care team, the Opioid Agonist Therapy (OAT) coordinator provides trauma-informed, culturally safe, and patient-centered care in a secure and dynamic environment. This role plays a vital part in delivering evidence-based addiction treatment and comprehensive nursing care to incarcerated individuals with opioid use disorder. Reporting to the Health Services Manager, the OAT Coordinator completes nursing assessments, health histories, and ongoing monitoring of mental and physical health status, administers medications, monitors withdrawal symptoms, adverse reactions, overdose risk, and treatment effectiveness. Provides patient education related to substance use, harm reduction, treatment adherence, and wellness. Collaborates with physicians, nurse practitioners, mental health clinicians, correctional staff, and community partners. The OAT Coordinator will respond to medical emergencies in a secure environment, following established protocols. The successful candidate will also cross train to other patient areas within Correctional Health as needed.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of Recovery Alberta. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $39.58/hour - $54.16/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with Recovery Alberta /UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum 1–2 years of recent nursing experience. Experience or education in addictions, mental health, primary care or corrections. Knowledge of Opioid Agonist Treatment principles, harm reduction, and trauma-informed care. Strong clinical judgment, communication, and de-escalation skills. Ability to work effectively within a secure correctional environment. Sublocade Certification. Experience responding to codes.
