Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:Working knowledge of patient and family-centered care principles. Working knowledge regarding the use of psychotropic medication (advanced knowledge preferred). Working knowledge of the DSM-5, concurrent disorders and staged matched interventions. Core nonviolent crisis intervention skills (advanced skills preferred) Working knowledge of psychopathology. Demonstrated ability to assess health status (including systems examination). Demonstrated ability to independently conduct a mental status examination, conduct a mental health assessment and formulate a problem list and plan of care. Demonstrated ability to assess multiple conditions of risk and develop evidence based risk mitigation plans. Demonstrated ability to appropriately assess and manage symptoms of withdrawal from multiple substances. Demonstrated ability to engage patients and families (including but not limited to patient and family teaching). Working knowledge of all relevant legislation (e.g. MHA, HIA, PPIC, etc).
Preferred Qualifications:Have at least 2 years recent experience working with persons with an addiction and/or mental health issues, preferably in an acute care/hospital setting. Experience working with Connect Care preferred.
