Registered Psychiatric Nurse

Your Opportunity:

In your role as Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) – Virtual Opioid Dependency Program (VODP), you will report to the Manager, VODP and you will provide a broad range of services primarily focused on supporting clients. As an RPN, you will work within an interdisciplinary team to provide harm reduction focused, culturally appropriate assessment, treatment, case management, crisis intervention, education and referral services for opioid dependent clients and their families. You will act as an extension of the physician, providing direct patient care through virtual technology platforms. You will support clients with the initiation and ongoing treatment of Suboxone or Methadone. Perform rapid nursing assessments and screening to ensure safety and mitigate risks associated with medication management. Tasks include monitoring prescription changes, facilitating changes with doses, monitoring urine drug screen results, ensuring the VODP physician is apprised of patient status and supporting the client’s general physical and emotional health related to addiction. Collaborate with pharmacies, labs, emergency departments, physicians, and existing Addiction and Mental Health Services. Monitor client risk and complete suicide risk screening and assessments as deemed necessary. You will engage in collaborative decision-making within the internal team and with external stakeholders in finding solutions and resources to support individuals with an opioid dependency. You will teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and take necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being.
